National President of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA); Prince Olayiwola Shittu at the weekend commissioned an office complex constructed by the Seme Border Chapter of the association.
Shittu appealed to members of the violence- prone chapter to work together with the chairman-elect, Barrister Lasisi Fanu for the benefit of all members.
In his speech, he commended the outgoing Chairman of the chapter, Mr. Patrick Ozobialu for the completion of the edifice and for registering his name among other prominent chapters with befitting chapter secretariats; they include: Onne Chapter, Muritala Muhammed Chapter and the Tin Can Island Port Chapter.
While describing Patrick Ozobialu as a chairman that is very compassionate about the issues of ANLCA, Shittu charged other serving and aspiring chairmen of ANLCA to always have the interest of the association at heart.
“It is the calibre of people at my back, national officers and chapter officers that has made ANLCA what it is today. Anybody coming in as Chairman of ANLCA and does not take the interest of other members of ANLCA have just come to play”
“I want to appeal to all of you to work with your chairman for the benefit of everyone”
“I am proud to be the president of ANLCA, sometimes ago I also tried to contest for election in the House of Reps, thank God that I did not win, what I have gained as president of ANLCA and the respect of all of you, I probably would not have gained it in the House of Reps” Shittu said.
He described ANLCA as one that has evolved between 2010 when he took office till date. According to him, ANLCA members are more knowledgeable now.
Shittu charged the Chairman-elect, Barr Lasisi Fanu to carry out the 2nd phase of the office project and take the advantage of securing his second term bid.
Earlier in his welcome address, the outgoing Chairman of Seme Chapter, Mr. Patrick Ozobialu said that on his assumption of office, putting up a befitting office for members took the centre of his administration.
He charged the incoming administration to continue developing the chapter from where he had stopped.
“Despite the distractions, we have made some modest achievements which include the office complex we are here to open. Government is a continuum; the incoming administration will start from where we stopped and hopefully make improvements and adjustments where necessary”
“I am happy that the head of the incoming administration is a principal officer in the outgoing one. I congratulate the new executives. I urge them to be magnanimous in victory, sustain and promote our legacy of peaceful co-existence, transparency and accountability” he said.
Ozobialu told Shipping Position Daily that the office complex will be commercialized and rented out to members.
