The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has congratulated Tunji Disu on his appointment and assumption of office as the Inspector-General of Police, describing his emergence as timely and critical to Nigeria’s current security needs.
In a congratulatory message signed by its National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, the association said Disu’s appointment comes at a period when the country requires decisive and focused leadership to strengthen national security, restore public confidence in law enforcement, and effectively tackle emerging criminal threats impacting key economic and strategic sectors.
APFFLON, a major stakeholder in the nation’s logistics, freight forwarding and maritime value chain, stressed the urgent need for comprehensive retraining and reorientation of police officers. According to the association, modern security challenges demand a shift toward intelligence-led policing, higher professionalism, technological integration, respect for human rights, and stronger inter-agency collaboration.
The group also drew attention to the welfare of serving police officers and retired personnel, urging the new Inspector-General to prioritize improved working conditions, adequate equipment, better remuneration and a sustainable pension structure. APFFLON noted that addressing welfare concerns is essential to boosting morale, reducing corruption and ensuring integrity within the **Nigeria Police Force**.
According to the association, a reformed, disciplined and well-motivated Police Force is fundamental to national stability, investor confidence and sustained economic growth, particularly in trade and logistics corridors that are vital to Nigeria’s economy.
APFFLON further assured the Inspector-General of its readiness to collaborate with the Police in promoting secure trade routes, enhancing port and corridor security, and strengthening the nation’s overall security architecture as part of a collective effort to support national development.
