The Nigerian Shippers’ Council is currently in a crucial meeting with the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), over the industrial action which led to the shutdown of the nation’s largest container terminal, APM Terminals, Apapa, on Wednesday.
The Executive Secretary of the NSC; Mr Emmanuel Jime is leading the talks, to broker peace. The MWUN is led at the meeting which is currently on at the union’s secretariat in Apapa, by its President General; Comrade Adewale Adeyanju.
The MWUN is protesting APM Terminal’s alleged refusal to honour the Collective Bargaining Agreement it entered into with the workers.
