Ships laden with imported fairly- used and new vehicles no longer reflect on the daily report of berthing meetings of the Lagos Pilotage district.
Investigation carried out by Auto Port Weekly revealed that the new trend started since April, when vessels laden with vehicles no longer reflect on the result of the daily meeting which is usually attended by shipping agents.

Investigation carried out by Auto Port Weekly revealed that the new trend started since April, when vessels laden with vehicles no longer reflect on the result of the daily meeting which is usually attended by shipping agents.
But our correspondent also confirmed that the two key Roll On Roll Off (RORO) terminals; namely: Five Star Logistics terminals and Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) handle incoming vessels loaded with both used and new vehicles but none of those vessels have been reflecting on the berthing meeting result.
Last week at the RORO terminals at Tin Can port, our correspondent confirmed three vessels laden with vehicles; two Eukor Carriers at Five Star Logistics terminals while one Grimaldi vessel came in at PTML with both used and new vehicles. They were however not captured.
Operators have however raised concerns about the development. According to them, publishing the list daily assists them to know the exact date ‘their vessels’ are expected to come into the ports.
Apart from their respective bill of lading, importers and freight agents have said that thedaily result of berthing meeting at the Lagos Pilotage District which is published daily by Shipping Position Daily newspaper assists them to keep tab on the arrival date of a particular vessel laden with vehicles.
They said the publication serves as a guide to them, making them more alert to the arrival date of their vessel.
Speaking with our correspondent in Lagos recently a freight agent; Mr. Paul Nze called on the NPA to investigate the exclusion of car carriers from the list.
He lamented that the exclusion of vessels laden with vehicles as expected at Five Star Logistics terminal and that of PTML for over two months is neo helping importers and their agents.
Also expressing concern about the development, an importer of vehicle; Felix Osazuwa urged the two terminal operators involved explain the reasons of the exclusion, adding that the information obtained from the daily berthing meeting has helped importers and freight agents in many ways.
