CILT Urges NASS To Pass Railway Act

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria has reiterated its appeal to the National Assembly to pass the Railway Bill.
Executive Director of CILT; Mr Francis Ehiguese, told newsmen in Lagos that the passage of the bill would facilitate transformation of the sector.
Ehiguese said that the passage of the bill would also make for a functional rail system that would respond to the need of Nigerians.

Ehiguese said that the passage of the bill would also make for a functional rail system that would respond to the need of Nigerians.
“The rail is still epileptic because the National Assembly has failed to pass the Railway Bill into law which could have wooed lots of investors into it.
“The passage is going to mark the beginning of making rail to respond to the needs of the society,” he said.
According to him, the country has got it right in the area of the concessioning the port which has increased cargo and vessel movement.
He said that the Federal Government’s conception of ports concession in 2006 had improved their efficiency and created more jobs for Nigerians.
Ehiguese said that the existence of the ports regulatory policy had made a huge difference in the port operations.
He urged the lawmakers to facilitate the passage of Railway Bill to reposition the sector.
The executive director commended the Federal Government for rehabilitating the existing rail tracks and the construction of new ones to meet the yearnings of Nigerians.
