A 35-year-old clearing agent, Isiaka Muritala was on Monday arraigned in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged theft of N4.1million.
Muritala, who resides at Ketu area of Lagos State, is facing a two-count charge bordering on fraud and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Kenneth Asibor told the court that the accused committed the alleged offences on July 16, in Lagos.
He said that the accused obtained N1.3 million from one Martins Eruga, that he would clear two vehicles, a Toyota High Lander and a Toyota Rav 4, which he never did.
Asibor also alleged that the accused stole a Toyota Rav 4 that belonged to Eruga valued at N2. 8million.
“The total amount stolen by the accused was N4. 1million,’’ he said.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 285 (1) and 312 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate, Mrs A. O. Komolafe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till Jan 11, 2016 for mention.
