The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, has decorated 87 newly promoted Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), charging them to uphold higher standards of discipline, integrity, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The decoration ceremony, held at the Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos, attracted senior officers, families, friends, and well-wishers who gathered to witness the significant milestone in the careers of the promoted officers.
In her address, the CP congratulated the officers on their elevation in rank, describing the promotion as a recognition of merit, dedication, and hard work. She emphasized that advancement within the Nigeria Police Force comes with increased responsibility and accountability.
According to her, the new rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police demands exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to duty. She urged the officers to see their promotion not merely as a reward, but as a call to greater service and ethical conduct.
Agbaminoja noted that the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command occupies a strategic position in safeguarding critical national infrastructure, maritime assets, and key economic gateways. She therefore encouraged the newly decorated ASPs to intensify intelligence-led policing, adopt proactive crime prevention strategies, and strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders within the port environment.
The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to the welfare and capacity development of its personnel, in line with the reform-driven agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at building a more professional, people-focused, and service-oriented Police Force.
She also appreciated the families of the promoted officers for their steadfast support and sacrifices, acknowledging that their encouragement plays a crucial role in the success of police personnel.
The ceremony featured the formal decoration of the officers, group photographs, and a renewed pledge by the newly promoted ASPs to discharge their duties with honour, courage, and dedication to national service.
