CP Agbaminoja Reaffirms Stakeholder-Driven Policing at Nigerian Ports

The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Toyin Agbaminoja, has reaffirmed her administration’s policy thrust of stakeholder-driven and intelligence-led policing as a strategic approach to enhancing safety, security, and efficiency across Nigeria’s maritime domain.

Speaking during a series of high-level engagements held between November 3rd and 5th, 2025, CP Agbaminoja emphasized that effective port security can only be achieved through sustained collaboration among regulatory agencies, port operators, and the maritime workforce.

During her courtesy visit to the Port Manager of Lagos Port Complex (LPC), Apapa, Mr. Adebowale Lawal, the Police Commissioner reiterated her commitment to strengthening the long-standing partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). She described security as a “collective responsibility,” adding that a safe and secure port environment remains fundamental to trade facilitation and national economic growth.

“In line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, our Command is committed to collaborative security management—where all port stakeholders play active roles in identifying and addressing potential threats before they escalate,” she stated.

As part of her ongoing stakeholder engagement, CP Agbaminoja also received the President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, and his team at the Command Headquarters. Discussions centered on promoting industrial harmony, building trust between law enforcement and maritime workers, and ensuring the welfare and security of personnel within port terminals.

Continuing her tour, the Police Commissioner visited the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, where she met with Comptroller E.J. Edelduok and engaged officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), as well as leaders of key freight forwarding associations—NAGAFF and ANLCA. The meeting focused on policy alignment, intelligence sharing, and inter-agency synergy to address emerging threats within the port corridors.

CP Agbaminoja reaffirmed that the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command would continue to operate under a framework of professionalism, transparency, and partnership-driven policing. She noted that the Command’s vision is to build a “model security ecosystem” that supports trade growth while safeguarding lives, investments, and critical port infrastructure.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, the Commissioner’s recent engagements reflect a clear policy direction—anchored on collaboration, proactive intelligence, and shared responsibility among maritime stakeholders to achieve sustainable security and operational excellence at Nigeria’s seaports.
