The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja has outlined a new security and operational agenda for Nigeria’s Western Ports with her maiden visit to the Area Command, Western Ports, aimed at strengthening safety, professionalism and stakeholder confidence within the port environment.

The visit formed part of her familiarisation tour of formations under her jurisdiction and her drive to reposition the command for more effective policing of critical national assets. CP Agbaminoja was received by the Area Commander, Western Ports, ACP Sunday Adeyeri, alongside senior officers of the command.

During the tour, the Commissioner inspected key facilities, interacted with officers and men, and assessed ongoing security operations across the Western Ports axis. The engagement, according to her, is essential for understanding field realities and ensuring that port security supports smooth maritime and commercial activities.

Addressing personnel, CP Agbaminoja stressed the need for professionalism, discipline and intelligence-led policing in protecting port infrastructure and maritime operations. She noted that the ports remain highly sensitive environments where security efficiency directly affects trade, revenue generation and investor confidence.

She charged officers to remain proactive and vigilant while strengthening inter-agency collaboration with sister security agencies and port stakeholders to achieve a secure and business-friendly atmosphere. According to her, security must not only deter crime but also facilitate legitimate port operations without unnecessary bottlenecks.

The Commissioner also reiterated her commitment to personnel welfare, continuous capacity building and sustained stakeholder engagement as core elements of her leadership strategy. She said motivated and well-trained officers are key to maintaining stability across ports and waterways.

Agbaminoja further cautioned officers and men on strict adherence to the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, warning against the misuse of online platforms in ways capable of undermining discipline, professionalism and the image of the Force.

In his response, the Area Commander, ACP Sunday Adeyeri, thanked the Commissioner for the visit, describing it as morale-boosting for officers of the command. He assured her of their loyalty, cooperation and readiness to support the vision of the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command under her leadership.

The visit reflects CP Agbaminoja’s ongoing engagement with formations under her command as she seeks to consolidate gains in port security and ensure a safe, secure and conducive environment for maritime trade and commercial activities across the Western Ports corridor.
