The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commenced preparations for its 2026 Basic Course Programme with an induction workshop for resource persons and instructors.
The workshop, held on Wednesday at the Customs Training College, Ikeja, Lagos, is designed to prepare trainers for effective delivery of the programme to prospective officers.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of Human Resource Development, Mr Frank Onyeka, stressed the importance of teamwork among the resource persons.
“We are going to work as a team. Nobody has monopoly of knowledge, that is why we have brought people.
“We are going to do this for the good of the service because we need to produce the best Customs officers that we will be proud of,” Onyeka said.
He said the service was committed to producing officers who would uphold professionalism, discipline and integrity in line with the reform agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs.
Also speaking, the Retreat Coordinator, Deputy Comptroller-General (Rtd) Greg Itotoh, said preparations for the programme had reached an advanced stage.
“As we speak, we have training materials in about 19 subject areas and information that will be required to run the 2026 Basic Course Programme.
“I think we are all together prepared to face the task ahead of us,” Itotoh said.
Earlier, the Commandant of the Customs Training College, Ikeja, Deputy Comptroller Precious Itah, described the retreat as the first of its kind and an important step in setting the tone for the training programme.
