The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde has approved the admission of 114 companies into the fast track concession platform created by the customs to enhance its Pre-Arrival Assessment (PAAR) scheme.
In a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of Customs, Wale Adeniyi for the customs boss obtained by Shipping Position Daily at the port yesterday, Dikko stated that the concession was given to encourage compliance in the conduct of international trade in Nigeria.

The beneficiaries admitted into the fast track scheme include local manufacturing companies, multinationals, auto mobile companies, telecom operators and super-market retail outlets.
Dikko said that the list will be reviewed periodically subject to the performance of the importers on the compliance scale. The beneficiaries according to him, will also be published in national dailies to enable Nigerians know those doing right.
"We believe publishing it will challenge those listed not to engage in act that will compromise their status, while putting pressure on those that are yet to make the list" he said.
Continuing, he said, "we have observed over time that these companies have exhibited high level of diligence in their documentations, honesty in their declarations and integrity in dealing with customs".
According to him, under the fast track scheme, the PAAR system has been configured to accord special recognition to the final documents belonging to the beneficiary companies when they are uploaded by the dealer banks.
Describing the process, he pointed out that once the verified documents hit the customs system, an automatic system check is activated, which on completion will generate the PAAR without recourse to officers at the ruling centre.
The declaration is instantly routed to the green lane and the process completed within few minutes, such importers can immediately take delivery of their cargo wile customs will conduct routine post clearance audit of their books.
