For allegedly leaking information on social media about the planned shake-up in the Nigeria Customs Service, six officers of the service have been invited to customs headquarters in Abuja for questioning.
Reports were rife in the media last week that the Customs Comptroller General, Col Hameed Alli (rtd) has ordered mass redeployment of several Comptrollers.
An authoritative source within the service however told Shipping Position Daily last week that even though the mass redeployment in the service is genuine and some of the affected Comptrollers it is going to happen any moment from now, the officers have no right to release the information.
Even though their identities were not revealed, our source confirmed that the six officers were summoned from various commands of the customs in Lagos to Abuja.
According to our source, “the information started trending on WhatsApp on new year day (January 1st) but as the National PRO has said, customs does not confirm postings on social media.”
“As I am talking to you, six officers have been invited from various commands for leaking the information on WhatsApp, they have been asked to report to Abuja”
“Between you and I, the information is genuine, whether we like it or not it is going to happen, but it just had to follow the proper channel” the source said.
Shipping Position Daily gathered last week that some of the affected Customs Area Controllers, have already prepared their handing over notes. It was however confirmed that some incorrect postings are already being discovered in the leaked posting.
