The Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service said that it has seized goods worth N11,525,066.10k in the first quarter of 2014.
Documents made available by, the Public Relations Officer of the command; Ngozi Okwara and made available to Shipping Position Daily, revealed that the command made seizures of 639 bags of rice in the first quarter of the year while 690 cartons of poultry products were also intercepted and destroyed from January to March 2014.

A further breakdown of the seizures revealed that the command made the highest seizures in January while the command experienced a lull in February and March.
In January the seizures made were valued at N5,288,980, with duty of N2,457,370 while duty paid value stood at N7,746,358.
In February the seizures were valued at N1,315,506 with duty of N1,018,056.60k, while DPV was N2,333,562
While in March, the command recorded seizure worth N1,445,145.50k duty paid value.
The image maker of the command told our correspondent that the seizure were made within riverine communities in Badagry, Yekeme and neighbouring coastal communities.
