Do You Have Faith In The Forth-Coming ANLCA, Western Zone Elections?

Festus Ugwu (Interim Chairman, ANLCA, Apapa)
I have been asked to midwife the Apapa chapter until election is conducted, and I want to tell you that whatever the ASECO needs to move its job forward, I will do it to the best of my ability; if there is any problem that can militate against the upcoming election we will make sure it is solved.
I also know that the chairman of the association’s electoral committee is a respectable person and I strongly believe that he will do his best; I believe that the election will turn out well.

Alfred Ofobike (ANLCA, Apapa Chapter)
I have no doubt about the process of the election because I know the master is in charge, he is a man that always makes sure that things are done well so we have no doubt about where the election is taking place. As for the conduct and the preparations, we know that its going to come out well because he knows how to do it, Prince Olayiwola Shittu is a straight forward man.
It is only when arrangements are not put in place that you will begin to get reactions from people, in terms of making noise and trying to be violent, but the moment arrange I am concerned, I don’t think there is any cause for alarm, security will be no problem because I know the ASECO are aware of the security.

Ahmed Musa (ANLCA, Apapa chapter)
A date has been fixed by ASECO, nobody is objecting to it.
I am the director of secretariat intelligence of Apapa chapter and considering the way ASECO has planned everything and what they have told us, I believe that there will be no problem unless there is anything contrary.
Since the election will be holding the same day and the same time, it will make people to concentrate on their venue and chapter, there will not be any allied forces against one people or the other, and the way ASECO has done it now it is only one vote for one license, so if you are operating in Apapa or Tin Can, you will know that is where you are going to put your vote, there is nothing like saying because your license is working every where, then you are going to cast your vote every where, this will further help out security wise. In fact, this was why I have been extremely worried because of the involvements in ANLCA elections, but ASECO has done wonderfully well.

Paul Ukemu (ANLCA, PTML chapter)
I have total faith in the election because of the person in charge, which is the current chairman of ASECO, he is a man of credibility and the way he has been going about the whole process has shown that. With what he has put in place, no right thinking person will not believe that the election will be free and fair.
This time around, I don’t even think we need any security because the transparency is there, what happened in the past elections of ANLCA is that the people conducting the elections then were not transparent, but with what is going on now, the transparency in the whole process is very clear. If it were before, when you come around to our base at this time you will see members trying to be making noises here and there, but today there is no sign of such unruly behaviour by members even as the election is approaching.
As at now, the faction thing in ANLCA has died down because of the transparency, everything is now clear because accreditation has been done in a transparent way, whether you are contesting or voting you have known your faith now, by the time the final voters list is out and your name is not on that list, then you don’t have any business coming around the venue and even if you do, it means you are coming there with ulterior motive.

Oladipo Bolade (Tin Can Chapter, ANLCA.)
I have much faith in the coming elections because everyone has been given a chance to come clarify themselves and we have done our bit.
You have to understand one thing that when things are done in the right way and when due process is being followed in an election, even if one should loose out, you will not mind because you will be sure that it was done fairly.
It is also true that ANLCA has tried conducting the election in the past and it failed, so ASECO I believe must have done their homework on why the elections failed and I know that new measures would have been put in place so as to ensure that it does not reoccur.

Livingstone Ndukwu (Customs agent, PTML)
My opinion is that you have to believe in people until they have been proven wrong, I believe the association’s electoral committee is handling the election process well and I know it will be done right.
Previous elections failed because of political interests; in every system there are always lapses which will want to hinder the process, but I believe ASECO have corrected these lapses this time around. In terms of security on the election day and venue, there is nothing to be scared about because the past elections did not fail because of security.
We should really thank ASECO for injecting a new blood into ANLCA.
