Apparently determined to groom students to become potential leaders in the industry, EMDEE Shipping and Maritime College is set to float six social clubs for its students.
This is part of the maritime academy’s contribution to inculcate discipline, dedication and hardwork into the students who find themselves in a new environment outside the scope of its core profession.
Apparently determined to groom students to become potential leaders in the industry, EMDEE Shipping and Maritime College is set to float six social clubs for its students.
This is part of the maritime academy’s contribution to inculcate discipline, dedication and hardwork into the students who find themselves in a new environment outside the scope of its core profession.
The six clubs which are expected to flag-off next session are: the press club, Muslim Students Society, Christ Ambassador Students Outreach (CASOR) or Believers Love World (BLW) optional.
Others are: Health Safety and Environment (HSE) club, Sport Club and the umbrella body of all students; which is the Association of Shipping Management Students (ASMAB).
Rector of the maritime college, Mr. Chikere Chigozie in a chat with Shipping Position Daily said plans are still on-going to ensure that the students get involved in social activities that can also help to boost their orientation outside the profession.
The rector stressed that the essence of the clubs is to groom students on the roles of a leader and how they can lead others wherever they find themselves.
He noted that the clubs will give room for the students to explore other areas outside the core maritime academy, adding that there are lots of benefits in the social clubs for them.
The rector added the innovation is geared toward making the students understand what life is all about, outside the maritime sector.
According to him, immediately the new session commences, there will be a ceremony to officially launch the six club for the students.
Chikere also pointed out that the patrons will be appointed in all the six clubs during the flag-off ceremony.
