Even as controversies continue to surround the coming elections into the national executive positions of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), the Tin Can Island Chapter of the association has disowned its former Chairman, Kayode Farinto who is also said eyeing a position in the elections.
Scribe of the chapter, Mr. Davis Chuks Kanikwu in a chat with Shipping Position Daily said that Farinto has no moral justification to contest any position in the elections, because, according to him, he has seized being a member of ANLCA.

Scribe of the chapter, Mr. Davis Chuks Kanikwu in a chat with Shipping Position Daily said that Farinto has no moral justification to contest any position in the elections, because, according to him, he has seized being a member of ANLCA.
Basing his argument on the ANLCA constitution, Kanikwu claimed that Farinto had taken ANLCA to court over the results of the last Tin Can Chapter elections, and that until the case is withdrawn from the court, he cannot take part in any activities of the association.
"He is not supposed to have sued ANLCA in a court, he is supposed to have explored internal resolution mechanism as stated by the constitution"
"Once you have taken ANLCA to court, you must not participate in its activities until the case is vacated" he said.
Speaking on the election which is billed to take place next Monday, Kanikwu said that the letter written by Farinto and six other corporate members to the Board of Trustees of ANLCA lack substance because, according to him, 86 corporate companies had elected the current executives at Tin Can.
"The letter was supposed to have been addressed to the Tin Can Chapter because we represent Tin Can at the NEC meeting where the decision about the coming election was taken, we were the ones that told the BoT that the election should hold", he claimed.
"So, the six companies ought to have directed their letter to us stating that they do not like the way we represented them, but I tell you, that 86 licenses voted for us to come in, and 6 out of this number is infinitesimal, majority decision must be taken, the election will hold" Kanikwu insisted.
In a letter which Farinto and six other corporate members wrote through his lawyer; Maritime and Commercial Law Partners; Barrister Osuala Nwagbara to the Board of Trustees of ANLCA last week, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent, he demanded that the resolution of the emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting be reversed.
The corporate members are; Wealthy Honey Investment Nigeria Limited, Waaz Ultimate Global Link Limited, Adekat International Agencies Limited, Tabo and Sons Nigeria Limited, Danmeyaki Investment Limited, Factotum Nigeria Limited and Abiofrank Enterprises Limited.
The letter reads: "Our clients are interested in contesting offices at the National Executive Committee level and are afraid that these decisions of the NEC will disenfranchise them and their followers, they and their followers will be denied the right to vote"
"The decision will also deny our clients the adequate opportunity to campaign to the general members of ANLCA on issues and inform them of the programme they will implement in office if and when voted in"
In a chat with our correspondent, Barrister Osuala confirmed that the letter to the BoT had been received by a member of the board, Chief Taiye Oyeniyi.
