The maritime media house, First Mediacon Network Limited had pioneered daily print media early in the year when Shipping Position Daily hit the newsstands, but our findings via all search engines have revealed that it is indeed, Africa’s first maritime daily newspaper.
There are on- line publications, that are in the genre of our sister product – shippingpositiononline, but there was no daily maritime publication, until January, 4 when Shipping Position Daily pioneered.
According to the world acclaimed search engine Google, Shipping Position Daily is the first maritime daily in Africa.
Its progenitor, Shipping Position Weekly was created in 2007 as the flagship of Nigeria’s maritime media; the urge to raise the bar and do the seemingly impossible necessitated the birth of the daily publication, which holds the everlasting record of Africa’s first maritime daily publication.
The Shipping Position Daily    team is led by one of Nigeria’s leading light in maritime journalism; Mr Sesan Onileimo. A journalist of about 17 years experience, who has also served as a member of the caretaker committee of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria and a member of the Federal Government’s committee on Cabotage implementation, he is also a fellow and Council member of the Nigeria Institute of Shipping.
In an apparent recognition of this lifetime record, Shipping Position Daily has since January received two awards.
