Eagle- eye operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service at the Federal Operations Unit in Ikeja, Lagos have arrested one Mr Wasiu Ariyo for impersonating as an Assistant Comptroller of Customs and duping one Mr Azeem Akinbiyi of N400, 000.
The suspect who has already been charged to court was said to have told his prey that he could help him to procure a 2008 Toyota Camry car from the Customs auction.
Customs Area Comptroller of the unit, Mr Musa Tahir told journalists last week in Lagos that his command has also recorded 72 seizures with duty paid value of about N219Million.
The seized goods include vehicles, textiles, and furniture refrigerators, among other items for which he disclosed that three suspects were arrested and awaiting prosecution.
In addition, the command has intercepted a 40-foot container load of television set which was under declared and another container which had two imported vehicles hidden inside, the controller disclosed even as he added that the command recorded a revenue hull of N29Million in May.
The suspected impersonator was said to be in possession of assorted fake documents when he was arrested.
