Freight forwarders have expressed their readiness to embrace online operations introduced by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) to make freight forwarding business less cumbersome and more rewarding.
They said in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the online service would enable them to keep proper records and to generate invoices promptly for their clients.
The Terminal Manager, Sapid Bonded Terminal Ltd, Mr Steve Solomon, said that the online method would facilitate transactions in Nigerian ports.
“I am appealing to members of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and other relevant groups to educate their members to embrace online transactions,’’ he said.
A freight forwarder, Mr Inuwa Ibrahim, described the software as a one-stop shop for maritime operators.
“We are hopeful of improvement in business with the device as we were made to know at the seminar organised by the Shippers’ Council on Monday,’’ Ibrahim said.
A staff of Denca Service, Mr Chika Odogwu, said that online transactions would check delay in cargo clearance, adding that the online service should be made mandatory for members.
