?South West Chairman of NUPENG; Comrade Tokunbo Korodo in an exclusive chat with Shipping Position Daily last week said that the activities of vandals have greatly affected the level of supply of products at NNPC depots in the South West.
Korodo told our correspondent that major marketers of petroleum products have not equally done enough to import products, According to him; many of them still feel embittered about the debt owed them during the last administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Shipping Position Daily gathered that not less than 2,000 trucks from various states within the South West alone, storm the Apapa depots daily, all in the bid to load products.
Korodo however warned that this could post a serious threat and precipitate full-fledged scarcity because ?there is not enough products in stock at the depots in Apapa.
On the activities of vandals, the NUPENG chairman said: "We have been battling with activities of vandals for a long time; this is the time for government to take a decisive action against vandals"
"The way Arepo pipeline is being affected by activities of vandals have reduced the pumping of petroleum products to NNPC depots"
"The major marketers are not also collaborating very well, some of them because of their outstanding debts during the last regime; it has brought down their? level of bringing products into the country".
Korodo reiterated that distribution of products in the Western states has been very challenging since September because Mosimi Depot which according to him is considered headquarters of NNPC has not had enough products to supply.
?He added that "the government needs to decentralize the ?distribution of products, so that it would not just be few depots that will have the responsibility to supply the products"
