Hapag-Lloyd Sets New Rate Increases

Rates from Latin America to Indian subcontinent and Middle East to rise by $300 per TEU effective May 23
Hapag-Lloyd will increase its freight rates on major trade lanes as part of a new rate restoration program.
The German ocean carrier said rates on westbound shipments from the Middle East to North Europe, the eastern and western Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa will go up $200 per 20-foot equivalent unit, effective May 15.

The German ocean carrier said rates on westbound shipments from the Middle East to North Europe, the eastern and western Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa will go up $200 per 20-foot equivalent unit, effective May 15.
Rates on all cargo from Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America to the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East will rise by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU, starting May 23. The subcontinent region includes ports in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Hapag-Lloyd will push its rates up by $50 per TEU on all cargo handled within ports in East Asia, excluding Japan, effective June 1.
