The International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION) has launched its Executive Blue Economy Training Programme, a three-day capacity-building initiative designed to strengthen the skills of maritime leaders, policymakers and supply chain professionals across Nigeria.
The institute, in a statement signed by its Head of Communications and Marketing, Dr. Bashir Ambi, said the programme is focused on promoting sustainable growth of Nigeria’s blue economy, with particular emphasis on logistics, port operations and trade facilitation.
According to IMION, the executive training is structured to equip key stakeholders with practical knowledge and strategic insights needed to navigate the evolving maritime and logistics landscape.
The programme is targeted at maritime and port authority executives, government officials and policymakers, officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, state government representatives and private-sector logistics professionals.
Participants are expected to undergo specialised sessions covering the fundamentals of the blue economy, port logistics operations, regional trade corridors, customs modernisation strategies and sustainable Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks.
IMION said the training would deepen participants’ understanding of ocean policies while strengthening Nigeria’s human capital and positioning industry stakeholders to identify and unlock emerging global investment opportunities within the maritime and blue economy sectors.
The institute said the programme is also designed to promote cross-sector collaboration and professional networking among participants from the public and private sectors.
The registration portal for the training is now open, with participants able to choose between physical and virtual attendance.
Physical participation costs ₦350,000, while virtual access is available for ₦150,000.
IMION said applicants are required to upload proof of payment on the registration portal to complete their enrolment. Successful participants will receive lecture materials and official certificates of participation.
The institute added that the registration portal would serve as the central platform for administrative updates, scheduling information and other announcements relating to the training.
IMION urged interested maritime professionals, government officials and other eligible stakeholders to register through the official portal ahead of the three-day programme.
The institute said the initiative represents part of its broader commitment to strengthening professional capacity and supporting the development of a more competitive, sustainable and investment-ready blue economy in Nigeria.
