The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a major leadership reshuffle following the retirement of several top officials, appointing new management members in acting capacities to drive its strategic objectives.

According to a press statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer of NCS Abdullahi Maiwada, the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, approved these key appointments to enhance service delivery and ensure the NCS continues to fulfill its core mandates effectively.

Among the newly appointed officials are BM Jibo, who now serves as the Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) of Finance Administration and Technical Services (FATS), OA Alajogun as Acting DCG of Enforcement, Inspection, and Investigation (EI&I), and T Bomodi as Acting Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) of Enforcement, Inspection, and Investigation (EI&I).

In addition to these key appointments, the CGC also named other senior officers to significant roles. IG Umar has been appointed as the Acting ACG of Headquarters, a position crucial for overseeing the overall coordination of NCS operations. Meanwhile, OA Salefu will serve as the Acting ACG of Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), where he will focus on enhancing the training and professional development of Customs officers.

Furthermore, BA Makinde has been named Acting ACG of Human Resource Development (HRD), where he will be responsible for managing the NCS’s workforce, ensuring that personnel are well-equipped to meet the demands of their roles.

The CGC highlighted that these appointments are a recognition of the exemplary service ad dedication of the officers. He expressed confidence that the newly appointed leaders would play crucial roles in advancing the NCS’s mission of revenue generation, suppressing smuggling, and facilitating trade.

In his remarks, CGC Adeniyi extended his gratitude to the retiring management members for their years of meritorious service and urged the new appointees to build on the legacy of their predecessors. He called on them to double their efforts in ensuring that the NCS achieves even greater success in its operations.

This strategic leadership change is expected to strengthen the NCS’s capacity to meet its objectives and continue its role as a critical player in Nigeria’s economic landscape.
