Chairman of the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area Hon. M.O Kadiku has lauded the immense contributions of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to community development.
The chairman who is also a former employee of the NPA spoke recently when he led top members of the Council’s management on a courtesy call on the Managing Director of NPA Malam Abdul Salam Mohammed at the corporate headquarters of the organisation.
Hon. Kadiku described NPA, as ‘a school of administration, even as he extolled the virtues of the agency’s leadership.
The chairman said that the team was at the NPA to formally invite the Managing Director to the first Lagos Island East local council Development Area Economic Summit Tagged “Island Initiative”, and to solicit for collaboration between the Local Council and the NPA.
He disclosed that his administration has devoted ample resources ant attention to specific areas such as: infrastructural development, job creation and improved healthcare and also solicited for the cooperation of the NPA management in the area of what eh called ‘labour exchange’.
Acknowledging that Honourable Kadiku is a member of family, the managing director said that NPA has always enjoyed a good relationship with the Lagos Island Local Government stating that continued effort was being made to build on this relationship.
The managing director acknowledged that the growth of any port brings about the growth of the community and emphasized the need for all communities within the port area to work together with the port to ensure development, stating that the relationship is symbiotic.
