An Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has slammed a bail of N5.5 million on a man, Eke Oscar, for allegedly stole an empty container valued at N5.5 million.
The Magistrate, Taslimi Shomade, who gave the ruling yesterday, also granted the accused two sureties in like sum as part of the bail condition.
Oscar, 25, a resident of No. 409, Alaba International Market, Ojo, is standing trial on a charge of theft.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused had sometime in February 2013 unlawfully obtained an empty container marked TCNU6913424 with a bill of lading No. 11018228770.
According to him, the accused stole the container valued at N5.5 million, property of one Mr Uzorma Orji.
The offence, he said, contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The case was adjourned to Nov.17 for mention.
