The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said yesterday that Lagos ports “are safer, user-friendly and devoid of charlatans’’.
Mr Steve Okonmah, the Customs Public Relations Officer, Ports and Terminal Multiservices Ltd., stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Okonmah said that the regular surveillance by the Comptroller-General of Customs’ task force had kept charlatans away from the ports.
He said that the task force had been working round the clock to make the ports peaceful.
Okonmah said that several measures had also been put in place to keep off troublemakers
He suggested that such measures should be replicated by the service all over the country.
“We have a CG’s team that has been doing well to ensure that legitimate port users were not harassed.
“Like in the PTML which is a car seat, right from the gate, if you do not have anything to do at the terminal, you will be shown the way out,’’ Okonmah said.
He said that the present administration came in with an agenda to improve on what was on ground with a view to rebranding the service.
Okonmah said that the rebranding effort would portray the nation’s ports in good light in no distant time.
He urged port users to report anybody whose identity and purpose in the ports could not be ascertained.
