Document made available to Shipping Position Daily by the Nigerian Ports Authority revealed that a total of 7,038 units of used, new and unclassified vehicles made it to the ports in the month of May even as Five Star continues to maintain its dominance among its peers in the business of importation of vehicles.
The foremost terminal operator handled 3,113 units of used and new vehicles in May, and for the first time, new vehicles recorded the highest figure of 1,839units with. Fairly used vehicles were 1,274 units.
The document further revealed that eight vessels loaded with vehicles called at Five Star Logistics Terminal Limited in May 2013.
Meanwhile Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) recorded 3,000 units of unclassified vehicles that called at the seaports in Lagos last month.
The terminal recorded 10 vessels in May, making it the highest terminal with imported vehicles.
Standard Flour Mills terminal recorded 925 units of used vehicles in May via two vessels; namely Hoegh Trapeze and Hoegh Tropicana.
It would be recalled that importation of vehicles through the seaports in January stood at 9,204 units, while February recorded 9,735 units.
The month of March recorded the highest with 12,474 units of vehicles while April saw 9,171 units of vehicles.
