The out-going Customs Area Controller in charge of Apapa command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Musa Jibril, has lauded the newly-introduced Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System ( NICIS 2) platform, saying that it has helped the command to boost its revenue.
Jibril who said this yesterday during a media parley and official handing over to his successor in Apapa, also charged officers of the command to give the new Controller the needed support.
He also reiterated that the NICIS 2 has helped in checkmating the excesses of importers and exporters at the command in making declarations.
He acknowledged that the NICIS 2 platform “has assisted us in customs compliance and also in revenue generation, no doubt it has helped in the revenue collected in the period under review. There has also been intensive stakeholders’ engagement; we have been reaching out to everybody that matters in the business".
According to him, the challenge the command is facing is in the area of export, which according to him still faces low level of compliance.
He called on importers and exporters to abide by the rule building the business of shipping.
He maintained that it is only through cooperation that the new Comptroller will achieve his set goals.
"Your understanding, corporation and friend ship is what I enjoyed over the time and it was what actually helped my success and the success that we have recorded in the command over time. Please I am urging you to extend the same degree of cooperation to him. You will find him very amiable and social. He is a veteran in his own way he has serves in so many other commands. It is just like a continuation of his work", he pleaded.
In his remark, the incoming Area Controller, Abuakar Bashir, commanded Musa Jibril for his high level of professionalism.
"Like the outgoing Controller, I know and I recognize the type of step the outgoing Controller has left behind. Looking at that I want to know how my own leg will fit into the big shoe. Before I say anything I must sincerely appreciate his high level of hospitality and professionalism to which I believe all of you will agree with me that he is a veteran”, he added
