Nearly 800 passengers remaining in Cambodia, after their docked cruise ship had been turned away by five other nations over coronavirus fears, have tested negative to the virus, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
Spokeswoman Or Vandine said the ministry was waiting on additional lab results for other passengers, but did not say how many tests were pending.
The 781 passengers, some on the ship and others staying in a Phnom Penh hotel, who tested negative for Covid-19, did not have health-related problems at all, she said.
One U.S. cruise passenger of the more than 2,000 people, who had been aboard Holland AmericaS Line’s Westerdam, tested positive for the virus in Malaysia after having disembarked the ship.
The cruise line said on Monday that 255 guests and 747 crew were awaiting medical clearance on board. (dpa/NAN)
India Seizes COSCO Vessel Carrying Parts For Nuclear Missile
A COSCO cargo vessel has been detained by Indian authorities for allegedly carrying components for a nuclear missile launcher, according to national and international media.
Reports suggest that a specialized cargo vessel, Da Cui Yun, arrived Deendayal Port, western India, was stopped while en route from China to Karachi, Pakistan, on 3 February 2020.
The International Business Times has reported that Indian customs officials were given a tip-off about the ship.
Once docked, it is believed to have been inspected by nuclear scientists from the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
What they reportedly found was material could be useful in the launch of solid fuel -powered nuclear missiles, which was registered as industrial dryers.
If reports are true, then it will be the second time in the recent past that COSCO have been marked out for its carry.
In September 2020 the US censured COSCO for allegedly breaching sanctions placed on Iran
