The Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, is set to hold the statutory passing out parade for its 2011/2012 set of cadets graduating.
The Public Relations Officer of the academy, Mr. Sidi Mpandiok who spoke with Shipping Position Daily, confirmed that the ceremony is scheduled to hold on the April 21, 2012 at the academy’s grounds in Oron, Akwa Ibom State.

As at press time, the spokesperson could not give the exact number of cadets that the academy will be graduating this year because according to him, the board of the academy is yet to ratify the final result of the cadets.
“The board of the academy will have to ratify the final result of the students before we can be able to tell the exact number that will be passing out” he said.
Also, since the admission of Nigeria into the IMO White List in 2001, the Academy says it has risen to the challenge of training more than 12,000 Nigerian seafarers and marine operators who required re-certification in accordance with the provisions and requirements of the revised STCW Convention.
