The management o f the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, (MAN) Oron in Akwa Ibom State has decried the presence of cult groups around the institution
Rector of the academy, Mr. Joshua Okpo disclosed this to members of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport when the group visited the institution on an oversight function recently.
Okpo said that the security in and around the institution has to be beefed up, so as to ensure that the cadets are safe and not lured into such anti-social group.

Okpo said that the security in and around the institution has to be beefed up, so as to ensure that the cadets are safe and not lured into such anti-social group.
He disclosed that apart from the fencing of the school’s premises, a Police post has also been erected behind the academy.
He however assured that so far, none of the academy’s cadets has been found to belong to any such groups.
