
The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has extended heartfelt condolences to its former President, Elder Asu Beks, following the passing of his beloved wife, Mrs. Helen Asu Beks, who died on Thursday, November 15, 2025.
In a statement signed on behalf of the association, MARAN described the news as deeply shocking and devastating, noting that Mrs. Beks’ death represents an irreplaceable loss not only to her immediate family but to all who knew her.
“The entire membership of MARAN joins colleagues across the maritime industry and beyond in mourning with our former President, Elder Asu Beks, and his family over the transition of his amiable wife, Mrs. Helen Asu Beks. We pray that God grants him, the children, and the extended Asu Beks family the strength, comfort, and courage to bear this painful loss,” the statement read.
MARAN further prayed for God’s continued protection over the family, asking that the soul of the departed be granted eternal rest in the bosom of the Almighty.
“As a people of faith, we take solace in the assurance that those who sleep in the Lord are not lost, but await the glorious resurrection morning when we shall part no more,” the association added.
The statement concluded with words of reassurance to Elder Asu Beks:
“Sir, be comforted. MARAN stands firmly with you in prayers during this difficult period, trusting that the Lord will grant the family peace on every side.”
