The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operation (UKMTO) reported on June 12th that TUTOR, a bulk carrier, was attacked twice while sailing in the Red Sea. The incident occurred 66 nautical miles southwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen.
The UKMTO stated that the bulk carrier was hit on the stern by a small craft described as 5-7 meters long and white in color. The captain of the ship reported that the vessel was taking in water and not being controlled by the crew. Later, the captain again reported being attacked for the second time by an unknown airborne projectile.
MV TUTOR is an 82357 DWT bulk carrier registered under the Liberian flag. The bulker is owned and managed by Evalend Shipping CO SA, Greece. The vessel was scheduled to arrive at AQABA, Jordan, on June 09th.
The U.S. Central Command, in its press release on June 12th, also confirmed the attack on MV TUTOR. They stated that the bulker was attacked by an unmanned surface vessel (USV) that damaged the engine room and flooded the vessel.
U.S. Central Command, in its yesterday press release, reported having shot down three anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCM) and one uncrewed aerial system (UAS) launched by the Houthis from their controlled area of Yemen in the Red Sea
Following this, Houthi rebels launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBM) from Yemen over the Red Sea.
