The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has urged importers to adhere strictly to the Agency’s import guidelines on importation.
Mr John Okwori, the NAFDAC Director in-charge of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Wednesday.
Okwori said that the Agency had opened various avenues to educate importers on what to do to avoid seizures and destruction of unregulated products imported into the country.
He explained that NAFDAC recently reviewed its website, which according to him, contained all import guidelines and other registration procedures for imported products.
He advised importers to check the website to ensure that they adhered to the guidelines.
He added that “our various zonal, state and liaison offices are also open for you to make inquires and feel free to ask questions.’’
Okwori said that the Agency would continue to sanction and seize unregistered imported foods and food items and drug products.
“As for those importers who want to cut corners, the Agency will apply the full weight of its sanction on them and their products,’’ he said.
