NAGAFF Chieftains; Maduka, Okoye Defects To ANLCA

Two chieftains of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) have defected to sister association; the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA). They are: former Board of Trustees Chairman of NAGAFF, Chief Mike Okoye and former Chairman of Tin Can Island Chapter, Mr. Jude Maduka
In separate chat with Shippi‎ng Position Daily yesterday, the duo said they had to cross carpet to ANLCA because it gives more room for them to express their views and serve the industry better.
Chief Mike Okoye told our correspondent that he was a one-time prominent member of ANLCA, and that going back there was merely n homecoming for him. According to him, even while he was in NAGAFF, the ANLCA had kept contact with him.
He defected to ANLCA last week amidst fanfare. He had served in NAGAFF as former Chairman of Apapa Chapter from 2002 to 2006 from where he rose to become the BOT chairman of the assocaition.
“I was received back to ANLCA with broad arms and glamour; they even gave me a wall clock‎”
“I was former Chairman, Apapa Chapter of NAGAFF for four years, I was also BOT chairman for some time, then I went into a limbo to rediscover myself and know where I am going, after much consideration I decided to go back to ANLCA”
“If not for anything, I have spent a lot of money in ANLCA, I have contested for National Vice President, I contested for Chairman of Apapa chapter. ANLCA is the mother of all associations and there is freedom of association”.
He assured however that his defection will have not in anyway lead to bad blood between him and the NAGAFF.
“There is no bad blood between us, Dr. Aniebonam believes in freedom of choice and association, I will not pretend, ANLCA is the mother of all association, even when I was in NAGAFF and not paying their dues, they were still sending me messages”
Also speaking with our correspondent on his defection, ex-chairman of Tin Can Chapter of NAGAFF; Mr. Jude Maduka‎ said he had joined ANLCA since June 2015 and that he recently complemented it by undergoing the biometrics of the association.
He said he has even been asked by ANLCA to go and consider some positions within the association, but he is yet to decide between the three options presented to him.
Speaking, Maduka said, “Having been a one time Chairman ‎of NAGAFF, I believe ANLCA gives me a broader spectrum to express myself and my vision within the freight forwarding and maritime sector at large”
