Ahead of the forthcoming Apapa Chapter election of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), the Founder of the association, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, has donated a total of N2 million to the two major contestants, Umeadi and Emeka as logistical support towards the election.
Aniebonam, who announced the donation in a statement, said the gesture was aimed at supporting the contestants and ensuring that all parties prepare adequately for a credible and transparent election.
The NAGAFF founder also declared that there must be an end to litigation, avoidable petitions and other activities capable of disrupting the electoral process, urging all contestants and voters to focus on the forthcoming election.
He said the President of NAGAFF; Tochukwu Emmanuel Ezisi was determined to ensure that the Apapa Chapter election was transparent, credible and people-oriented.
“There must be an end to litigation and avoidable petitions. All contestants and voters must now prepare for the election,” the statement said.
Aniebonam, however, issued a strong warning against further attempts by any group to distract or undermine the electoral process, stressing that such actions would no longer be tolerated within the association.
He warned that any further distraction from any group would attract immediate expulsion from the NAGAFF family without further notice.
The founder also cautioned national officers, board members and members of established standing committees at the NAGAFF national headquarters against meddling in the Apapa Chapter election or openly supporting any of the contestants.
According to him, any national officer, board member or member of a standing committee found interfering in the election or openly supporting any contestant would be relieved of the responsibility and equally expelled from NAGAFF.
He said the measures were necessary to prevent further division within the association and preserve the unity of NAGAFF as “one large happy family.”
“Enough is enough for acts capable of dividing the one large happy family of NAGAFF,” he declared.
Aniebonam further disclosed that a new electoral guideline for the Apapa Chapter election would shortly be released from the office of the National President.
The development is expected to provide a fresh framework for the conduct of the election and guide contestants, voters and other stakeholders ahead of the exercise.
