The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) yesterday honored the President of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Eugene Nweke with a national outstanding leadership award.
The award conferred on the NAGAFF boss was in recognition of his contributions to freight forwarding practice in Nigerian and the economy in general.
Speaking on behalf of the students at the NAGAFF headquarters in Lagos during the award presentation yesterday, President of NANS, Comrade Tijani Shehu Usman said the award comes up once in a year and the NAGAFF boss was recommended to the house, following his contributions to the industry.
The NANS boss who was represented by Comrade Segun Okeowo Kayode explained that the NAGAFF president was nominated and ratified through voice vote by members of the body adding that Eugene Nweke's votes surpassed other nominees for the 2015 award.
He noted that the award is NANS leadership award which is also known as Nigerian Leadership outstanding Award but added that the award presented to the NAGAFF president is called "Icon of Societal Transformation and Commander of Nigerian Students".
The NANS boss said "chief Eugene Nweke is now a commander of Nigerian students and at the same time he is an aluta five star general"
"He is also one of the frontline ambassador for Nigerian students even though he is no longer a student but whenever Nigerian students gather to have a programme he has every right to be in attendance based on his new status"
He added that the award is not for political office holders because they have not favored the Nigerian students. He said they have failed to represent the public in good light but that the NAGAFF boss is humble , passionate ,spiritual and dogged in the profession he found himself
In his remarks, President of NAGAFF, Chief Eugene said the award came as a result of the doggedness of NAGAFF as a freight forwarding organization, even as he promise not to disappoint the students.
He however dedicated the award to NAGAFF as an entity and that the founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam has been instrumental to his career and profession.
The NAGAFF president disclosed that there has been series of honors in the last two months even as he lauded the founder of NAGAFF for his innovation of establishing a body of freight forwarding practice to thrive.
