A new chairman has assumed office for the Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) chapter of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), he is, Mr Cosmos Ndimkora who until the elevation, the vice chairman of the chapter.
Mr Ndimkora ‘s  promotion was as a result of the promotion of the former chairman of the chapter, Mr Ugochukwu Nnadi by the association to the position of Deputy President, maritime and intermodal transport services at the headquarters.
Speaking with Shipping Position Daily in Lagos yesterday, the new chairman, Mr. Cosmos Ndimkora said that he is to hold forth as chairman of the chapter for the next two years until fresh elections are conducted into the chapter.
He assured members of the chapter that part of his programme of action is to reposition the association and to build capacity of his members, even as he vowed to always maintain an open door policy; he also reaffirmed his ready to carry every one of them along in policy implementation.
“I will be here for two years before elections are conducted and I want to assure everybody that I came on board in the first place to reposition NAGAFF because the association itself came into being in order to enthrone sustainable freight forwarding practice, if we deviate from what we believe in and why we came out in the first place, then we cannot get anything right” he said.
Ndimkora also assured that he will cement the strong relationship that has existed between the freight forwarders and the chapter’s custom command.
“Custom is acting on the policies given to it by the government, they do not just declare their own standards, the point is that change is the only permanent thing on earth, but you find out that it is not everybody that adhere to change, the reason why I came is to reposition the association, build capacity because most of our problems is as a result of not updating ourselves”, he added.
He assured that he is ready to improve on what his predecessor has done, even as he assured members that, “this is the NAGAFF of old where everyone will be taken care of irrespective of the tribe you come from”.
Also speaking with our correspondent, the former chairman, Mr. Ugochukwu Nnadi expressed gratitude to the board of the association for finding him fit to occupy the new position, he assured that he will use his new post to partner with stakeholders to put an end to the traffic situation in Apapa by creating a truck park.
“I have tried to talk with the truck owners so that we will make moves for the authorities; the state government and the federal government to see if they can release mile 2 barracks for this purpose”.
According to him, the second thing he is going to address is the relationship between the shipping companies and the freight forwarders, stating that, “now that I am vice president I can now make moves to look into these areas” Nnadi assured.
