Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Ibok-Ete Ibas has reiterated the determination of the Nigerian Navy to combat emerging threats in the maritime environment.
Ibas, represented by the Director of Administration, Naval Headquarters, Real Adm. Victor Adedipe, gave the assurance while addressing newsmen at the end of its Quarterly Route March in Abuja.
“ There are emerging threats in the maritime environment and as much as possible we try to design strategies to use in combating them as they evolve,’’ he said.
The naval chief noted that the sea was a very peculiar environment to operate in, adding that for naval personnel to survive at sea, they must be physically fit.
“ That is why at all times, we embark on this routine march to ensure that the officers and men of the Nigerian Navy are physical fit.
“ We are making concrete efforts to ensure that personnel are healthy and their bodies are well conditioned for operational readiness,’’ he said.
