Mrs Queen Obazee, the new Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), Ondo/Ekiti Area Command, has promised to enhance revenue collection and improve service delivery in the command.

Obazee, who is the 28th Comptroller of Customs in the Area Command, in her inaugural address, emphasised the command’s commitment to better service delivery.

This is contained in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Akure on Friday by Mr Aondoakura Dzungwenen, Deputy Superintendent of Customs in the Area Command.

Obazee outlined strategies that would prompt revenue assurance, security and supply-chain, protection, anti-smuggling supremacy, and trade facilitation excellence.

“Under revenue assurance, I promise to institutionalise a zero-leakage culture and enforce process discipline.

“On security and protection, it is important to dwell more on joint operations with sister agencies and community intelligence networks to protect critical assets and ensure officer safety.

“I will also prioritise intelligence-led operations in the fight against smuggling,” she said.

The comptroller vowed to embark on “a disciplined campaign against smuggling,” targeting prohibited goods, arms, narcotics, and counterfeit products.

She assured that operations would be planned for impact, with lawful stops, evidence preservation, and professional conduct.

Obazee emphasised the importance of trade facilitation, promising to deepen industry outreach and recognise good compliance behaviour.

She also said that the command would review revenue dashboards daily and take corrective action on anomalies.

With her assumption of office, Obazee pledged to work tirelessly to improve positively the activities in the command.

According to her, the command will work to meet the expectations of the service and stakeholders, ensuring sustainability and excellence.

Earlier, the Acting Deputy Comptroller of Administration, Assistant Comptroller Moses Uchegbu, pledged renewed commitment to meeting expectations and ensuring the sustainability of ongoing efforts.

Uchegbu, while welcoming the new Customs Area Comptroller on behalf of the officers and men, acknowledged that much had already been given hence the need for greater commitment.
