New PM Tin-Can Promises Collaboration With Stakeholders

The new Port Manager of Tin-Can Island Port of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) Engineer Emmanuel Akporere, has promised to cooperate with stakeholders in the port so to move the port forward, even as he promised to be constantly visiting the operators to know their challenges.  
 
Engineer Akporere, said this during his familiarizing tour to the terminal operators in Tin Can port, which was kicked-off on Monday.
 
On the essence of the tour, he said " it is just to familiarise myself this has been my territory years . So the movement is just to meet the people and the stakeholders to know the way forward. They should expect cooperation from me and I am expecting a lot from them too. This is not going to be the only visit,  I am a practical man  I will be moving here and there to ensure that things go well"
 
Assessing the facilities, he said that they are great.
 
He also applauded Nigerdock for encouraging Nigeria by engaging most of our engineers.
 
"The facilities visited so far are  impressive especially Nigerdock they are they People you can cooperate with and majority of their Engineers are All Nigerians that is very impressive"
 
Meanwhile the General Manager, Snake Island Integrated Free Zone(SIIFZ) managers of Nigerdock,  Joe Boulos applauded the Nigerian maritime industry, saying that they have made some significant improvement in the last few years.
 
"The Nigeria maritime industry has really made some significant improvement in the last few years. The quay side, jetties, some physical improvement and support from the NPA have all been growing.  And also the Nigerian role in their industry has ever been growing and we are one of the beneficiaries of these policies and we want to see these policies is to drive business back to Nigeria just to keep the country strong"
 
He also said that they have increased their local content in other to support the maritime industry in Nigeria. 
 
"We are ship yard and shipping building and ship repair facility, we are increasing our capacity so that no vessel we go outside and do what can be easily done here in Nigeria. So SIIFZ and Nigerdock we have done much work to increase local capacity in support of that maritime industry. Maritime industry is not all about the ship is about all the support industries and the services that are there,  you can also benefit from the industry"
 
Speaking further,  he disclosed that the company has been at the forefront of ensuring in country ship building adding that the government should ensure that they are patronised. 
 
"We as a industry have been on the forefront of developing in country ship building. We have been info intense discusions with technical . Some of them have mere materialised we have the drive and the ambition. Our workers our workforce also have the drive what we need is a technical partner to join  to increase our capacity. And then we also need the government to ensure that we are patronised"
 
Mr.  Boulus applauded the president Buhari's administration saying that the economic policies of the current administration are bringing businesses back to the country. 
 
"I believe that the current economic policies under this administration are driving businesses back to Nigeria and they are developing things in country.  We just need more focus,  effort and be more compliant, we are on the right track".
