Trading activities on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed the week on a positive note on Friday, January 30, 2026, as investors exchanged 687,380,033 shares valued at ₦14.98 billion in 41,539 deals, reflecting improved market participation compared with the previous trading session.

Data from the NGX showed that the day’s performance represented a 25 per cent increase in trading volume, a 6 per cent rise in turnover, and an 8 per cent improvement in the number of deals when compared with Thursday, January 29, 2026. The overall market capitalization of the Exchange stood at ₦105.9 trillion at the close of trading.

A total of 129 listed equities participated in trading during the session, with market breadth closing mixed as 33 stocks appreciated, while 31 equities recorded price declines, indicating selective buying interest across sectors.

Zichis Agro Allied Industries Plc led the gainers’ chart, appreciating by 9.97 per cent to close at ₦4.19 per share. Abbey Mortgage Bank followed closely with a 9.94 per cent gain, while RT Briscoe Plc rose by 9.93 per cent and Haldane McCall Plc advanced by 9.9 per cent at the close of trading.

On the losing side, Learn Africa Plc topped the decliners’ table after shedding 10 per cent to close at ₦8.10 per share. Livestock Feeds Plc also recorded a 10 per cent loss, while LivingTrust Mortgage Bank Plc declined by 10 per cent and Deap Capital Management & Trust Plc dropped by 9.97 per cent.

In terms of activity, Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc emerged as the most traded stock by volume, with 80.5 million shares exchanged during the session. It was followed by Secure Electronic Technology Plc, which recorded 79.3 million shares, while Deap Capital Management & Trust Plc posted 33.3 million shares traded. Access Holdings Plc also featured prominently among the most active stocks, with 31 million shares changing hands.

Market watchers note that the improved trading metrics suggest a gradual return of investor interest, particularly in low- and mid-cap stocks, amid ongoing portfolio repositioning at the close of the trading week. However, the mixed market breadth indicates continued caution among investors as they balance bargain hunting with profit-taking across selected equities.

Overall, the NGX ended the final trading session of the week with stronger volumes and turnover, reflecting increased market activity, even as price movements remained mixed across listed stocks.
