NGX Records Uptick in Volume, Turnover as Market Cap Hits N98.8trn

Trading activities on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed the week on a positive note on Friday, October 24, 2025, with an improvement in market turnover and volume despite a marginal decline in the number of deals.

Data from the Exchange shows that investors traded a total of 1.21 billion shares valued at N31.48 billion in 29,960 deals. This reflects a 31 per cent rise in volume and 17 per cent increase in value, compared with Thursday’s session. However, the number of deals dipped by 2 per cent. The market capitalisation stood at N98.8 trillion at the close of trade.

A total of 130 equities participated in the session, ending with 34 gainers and 25 losers. Aso Savings & Loans topped the gainers’ chart with a 10 per cent price uptick to close at 66 kobo, followed by Ikeja Hotel which appreciated by 7.89 per cent. Regency Alliance Insurance and Caverton Offshore Support Group also recorded gains of 7.44 per cent and 7.08 per cent, respectively.

On the flip side, Union Dicon Salt led the losers with a 9.09 per cent drop to N8.00 per share. It was trailed by Neimeth International Pharma (-6.67%), Cornerstone Insurance Company (-5.61%) and Haldane McCall (-4.84%).

In terms of activity, Fidelity Bank remained the most traded stock for the day with 821 million shares, far ahead of Sovereign Trust Insurance (45.5m), Tantalizers (32.7m) and Access Holdings (23.8m).

The benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) rose by 1,155.13 points, or 0.75 per cent, to close at 155,645.03 points. This pushed the index to a 4.48 per cent weekly gain, 10.27 per cent in four weeks, and 51.22 per cent year-to-date.

Sectoral performance was broadly positive. The NGX Oil & Gas Index advanced by 2.96 per cent, while the Industrial Goods Index gained 1.18 per cent. The Insurance Index appreciated by 1.01 per cent, just as the Consumer Goods Index rose by 0.95 per cent. The NGX Top 30 Index and NGX Main Board Index also closed higher, reflecting sustained investor interest across key segments of the market.
