Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is to provide meteorological equipment to all pilotage districts within the organisation, to assist the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NEMA) in taking care of the entire coastal areas of her operations.
Managing Director of NPA, Mallam Habib Abdullahi disclosed this while receiving the Director General of NEMA, Dr. Anthony Anuforom, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Lagos last week.

Mallam Abdullahi noted that, in recent years, there has been improvement in weather forecast especially in the aviation sector, he expressed hope that this could be replicated in the maritime industry.
He pointed out that the provision of the Meteorological equipment for the NEMA is also in line with the NPA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),considering the fact that NEMA’s activities as of importance to the operation of the NPA.
Dr. Anthony Anuforomwho who was accompanied by some top officials of the agency said that the purpose of his visit was to re- emphasis the existing collaboration between the Nigerian Ports Authority and NEMA
He stated that the NPA should set up a committee with membership drawn from the two agencies to work out timelines and terms of references needed for effective collaborations between the two of them
The committee is expected to develop strategies and modalities for the maintenance of facilities for uninterrupted provision of services as well as the benefits of the collaboration between the two agencies among other things.
