NPA Top Man; Jegede Wins IAPH Essay Competition For Record Third Time

Assistant General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Planning, Western Ports, Nigerian Ports Authority Mr. Femi Jegede has been named the winner of the Akiyama Award in  the Japan based International Association of Port and Harbour (IAPH) 2011 essay contest.

Assistant General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Planning, Western Ports, Nigerian Ports Authority Mr. Femi Jegede has been named the winner of the Akiyama Award in  the Japan based International Association of Port and Harbour (IAPH) 2011 essay contest.
This is the third time that Jegede will win the prestigious award from the International Association of Port and Harbour (IAPH) Organisation.  Previous essay competition in which he has won awards include: Action for a Quality Port in the 2004/2005 IAPH special essay competition, 2007 special essay competition, with his essay on Ports Statistical Software Application System Competition.

The 2011 award- winning essay was entitled “Strategies to increase Ports Efficiency and Productivity in Nigerian Ports – The Great Leap in which he takes a critical look at the need for improved efficiency in the Ports as a tool for the economic survival in Nigeria. The essay is currently on the NPA website for sighting and readership.  
Mr. Femi Jegede obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree (B.SC) Economics in 1982 from the then- University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University).  He has also attended local and foreign courses among which are Finance for non-Finance Managers at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa; Managing Strategic Change, by Crown Agents International Management  center , London and the International Programme on modernizing Public Services from RIPA, London among others.
Mr. Jegede is to be presented with the award during the Busan conference coming up in Japan between 23rd and 24th, May, 2011.
