On 13th May, Japanese shipping company NYK Group took delivery and celebrated the naming ceremony of a new methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier “Green Future”. The cargo vessel was delivered by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. at its Tsuneishi Factory in Japan.
Green Future is chartered by NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd., a subsidiary of the NYK Group. It is the first carrier in the NYK Group fleet to be equipped with a dual-fuel engine capable of operating on both conventional fuel oil and methanol. It is also equipped with Tsuneishi’s proprietary Aeroline technology, which is designed to reduce wind resistance. This new ship marks a step forward in NYK’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact and move toward more sustainable shipping solutions.
The Liberian-flagged cargo vessel measures 200 metres in length and 32 metres in width. Its deadweight is approximately 35,700 metric tons, and it can carry about 81,500 cubic metres of cargo.
