Companies operating in the Oil and Gas Free Zone (OGFZ) at Onne, Rivers, on Friday expressed commitment to support Federal Government’s Local Content policy aimed at building a virile Nigerian economy.
Mr Akin Bello, Integrated Logistics Services (INTELS) Head of Commercials, said this while presenting his address at the grand finale of 5th Practical Nigerian Content conference in Onne, Rivers.
Companies operating in the Oil and Gas Free Zone (OGFZ) at Onne, Rivers, on Friday expressed commitment to support Federal Government’s Local Content policy aimed at building a virile Nigerian economy.
Mr Akin Bello, Integrated Logistics Services (INTELS) Head of Commercials, said this while presenting his address at the grand finale of 5th Practical Nigerian Content conference in Onne, Rivers.
Bello noted that Nigeria’s economy was on the road to becoming one of the world’s greatest economies with the contributions of OGFZ.
He said that the companies in the area had, through qualitative service in simultaneous oil exploration and production, turned around the economy of the country for better.
The Intels head of commercials explained that companies operating in Onne had recorded tremendous success, using mainly made-in-Nigeria goods and services.
Mr Isidore Sambol, Head of Public Relations, Intels, said that the conference, which was organised by Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), was designed to drive a locally based economy.
Sambol, who said that more than 160 companies operating in the Onne Free Zone, had made about 8 billion dollars investment to boost Nigeria’s economy.
According to him, over 2,000 Nigerians are directly and indirectly employed by companies operating in the Free zone.
The highlight of the conference was a tour of some of the companies operating in the zone like West Africa Machinery Servicing (WAMS), FMC technologies, West Atlantic Shipyard (WAS), OneSubsea, GE and others
