Police Commissioner Assures On Resuscitation of River Port PCRC

The Commissioner of Police in charge of Eastern Ports; James Olatunji Caulcrick says that the command is ready to resuscitate the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in the port.
The Commissioner stated this recently, while exchanging views with stakeholders  at the Rivers Port, Port Harcourt. He said that PCRC is critical to the command’s policing of strategic areas under its jurisdiction.

The Commissioner stated this recently, while exchanging views with stakeholders  at the Rivers Port, Port Harcourt. He said that PCRC is critical to the command’s policing of strategic areas under its jurisdiction.
“Before my arrival to this command, PCRC activities were at low ebb. Now, I call meetings of the body. We want to reorganize it and make it effective, so that they can positively contribute through intelligence gathering in the business of policing the area’’, Commissioner of Police, Mr Caulcrick stated.
He said as part of the measures of the Command to ensure adequate policing of different ports under its command, there is a  resolve to utilize what he called, non – state police strategy’’.
He added that it is a measure of collaborating with other organizations that is not primarily responsible for the task of policing and giving security. Among these group he said were community members, host communities, and individual groups with vested interest to support and assist the police for security and safety of lives and property.
He maintained that it is the reason why policing is a collective responsibility of all, and called on members of the public to support the police by giving them information on suspicious and questionable characters.
‘’It is on this premise that PCRC role is now critical and very important to police operations’’, the Commissioner  stated.
He also expressed optimism that Rivers Port, Onne Port, Calabar Port ,Warri Port PCRC leadership will be pro-active, and help in the business of adequate policing for purposes of crime prevention.
The CP also assured that as police commissioner, he will continue to work in synergy with NPA, Rivers Port management, terminal operators to ensure adequate policing of the respective ports under their watch.
 ‘’ We want to continue to create the forum and environment where officers and men of different  security agencies are adequately sensitized on the need to work collaboratively for purposes of protecting lives and properties of all Nigerians’’,  Mr Caulcrick maintained.
