Following recent changes within the Comptroller cadre of the Nigeria Customs Services (NCS), the Port Harcourt Area 1 command of the service, now has a new comptroller in the person of Mr. D.G. Kuffi.
The new comptroller who was reassigned from kano/Kaduna Zone of the service has since taken over command from former Comptroller A.M Jamo who was also redeployed to Kaduna Zone B.
Efforts by Shipping Position Daily correspondent in Port Harcourt to speak with the new Comptroller proved abortive as he was reported to be studying files and taking briefs from unit heads.
However, stakeholders in Port Harcourt have expressed concerns about the short tenure of Comptrollers that are brought to the command; some of them who spoke with our correspondent hinted that it may not be unconnected with low vessel traffic, and low business at the Ports.
They also fingered some concessionaires at Port Harcourt Ports namely; Ports and Terminal Operators Limited (PTOL) and BUA Ports and Terminals for not playing according to their contract agreement with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to revitalized Port Harcourt Ports to the desire height.
