The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) is partnering with major oil marketers in the country in order to begin the haulage of petroleum products by rail.
Shipping Position Daily learnt last week that the corporation in partnership with the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) is set to deploy the 40 pressurized tankers which were acquired by the NRC to use.
MOMAN in a letter directed to the Managing Director of NRC, Engr. Adeseyi Sijuwade and signed by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), Mr Thomas Obafemi Olawore conveyed the intention of the group to work with the NRC.
Spokesman of the NRC, Abdulraouf Akinwoye in a statement expressed the readiness of the corporation to transport petroleum products in the country.
He said the management of the NRC has in stock a total of 40 pressurized tank wagons specially designed for the transportation of petroleum products by rail across the country.
